RELATIONAL SOMATIC THERAPY is rooted in the understanding that emotional experiences are intricately woven into the fabric of our physical being. Relational Somatic Therapy (RST) is the work of Mariah Moser inspired by Peter Levine's Somatic Experiencing. RST is a powerful practice for transformation, renegotiating shock trauma and healing developmental/early trauma. This work supports clients to meet their inner lives in a fresh way and uses the body as a resource to gather more information about ones lived experiences, often through sensation, imagery, metaphor, gesture, sound & movement. Anything that appears is welcomed into an attuned and safe space, where transformation and healing can take place. We track the nervous system for what survival responses -flight-fight-freeze-fawn- may be stuck and ready to move through and complete in a relational way. Through this mindful exploration, individuals gain insights into their emotional states and can work towards releasing stored tension and outdated patterns.  These session involve primarily talking and body/somatic exploration - however if desired we can also incorporate a short amount of time on the table for hands on Somatic Regulation work. *For Women

Biodynamic Craniosacral therapy (BCST) supports the whole body and is especially beneficial for releasing stress and trauma through nervous system balance and regulation - toning the vagus nerve(s). Developed out of Osteopathy, BCST is gentle and utilizes the inherent self-corrective mechanisms of the central nervous system and the underlying forces of the body as a therapeutic tool for healing. The client remains fully clothed and the touch is light and still. The therapist uses gentle, precise touch to aid the body in releasing restrictions and tension patterns; and redistributing its internal resources to resolve a variety of conditions. By orienting to the slower craniosacral rhythms, which are responsible for promoting maintenance, healing and regeneration, the craniosacral therapist encourages the body to restore balance and health. At the beginning of each session you will have between 10-20mins to talk/ share about anything desired. It is important to note that while a single session can have noticeable effects, more commonly it takes multiple sessions to achieve the results you are seeking. To start, 3 sessions are recommended, with each session booked about 7 days to 2 weeks apart. For the 90 min sessions you are welcome to use half of the time for talk/Somatic Therapy and half for Craniosacral.

Nature can be incredibly resourcing and has a way of reflecting a quality of truth and coherence back to us. Often insights, clarity, connection and healing updates can arise when in communication with wild landscapes. In these session we will meet in person in the Comox Valley BC, either at Nymph Falls for a forest/river setting or Point Holmes/Kye bay for an ocean setting. These sessions can include Somatic Counselling, Somatic and perceptual -nature connection exercises, walking or sitting, free play, expressive movement or sound explorations or simply just being with whatever you are with.. awakening your senses, with the support of nature. This is an offering to re-member your place, and belonging in the larger order of things and reconnect and rejuvinate your mind, body and soul. When we drop into our body and senses to connect with the wilderness within and around us, we can become aware of our inherent interconnectedness and belonging. We can deepen our relationship with nature by appreciating and embodying the qualities of; earth, water, fire, air and space. Movement offerings are informed by a lens of embodiment, prayer, creativity and somatic therapy principles. Inspired by my studies in The 5 rhythms, Open Floor, Vijnana Yoga, Continuum Montage, Shamanic Nature based practices & ritual, along with Contemporary and Contact Improv dance. These offerings are a place to free yourself up. To enter into the alchemy of moving to beautiful music or nature soundscape as a resource, while including stuck, painful or any parts of you; that want to explore and express your authentic self and impulses. In a safely held container we gather with other curious somatic explorers to deep dive into the realms of interoception/exteroception, boundaries and the relational dance. Into dissolving limiting stories, patterns and beliefs, moving suppressed emotions, and invite an opportunity to see and be seen in new ways. This is a practice for embodied inquiry, self-discovery, creativity, expression and exploring relationship to others and the more than human world.
